Introducing our first release of 100% Mourvèdre! This mouth-watering wine hails from Heart of the Hill Vineyard on Red Mountain where the warm climate allows for full ripening of the grape and imparts dark berry and jam flavors.
2012 was a classic Eastern Washington growing season. Summer was warm with no prolonged, excessive heat events. Late Summer and early Fall brought on slightly cooler daytime highs and a significant diurnal shift, a pattern that continued well into October, allowing late varietals like Mourvèdre to thoroughly complete ripening.
Mourvèdre has very large clusters and needs aggressive thinning in the vineyard to fully ripen. Heart of the Hill Vineyard is a very warm site, and the Mourvèdre is thinned to one cluster per shoot to encourage full ripening.
Our 2012 Mourvèdre is from Heart of the Hill Vineyard on Red Mountain where the warm temperatures of this AVA and vineyard imparts dark berry and jam flavors in this delicious silky-smooth wine.
Silky smooth decadence with nice acid-tannin integration and structure, and a long clean finish.
