Our 2010 Merlot is a blend of three well-known vineyards (StoneTree, Olsen, and Boushey Vineyards) from unique settings throughout Washington. The 2010 Merlot possess a spicy nose of pomegranate with hints of light caramel and raspberry-filled chocolate. The palate is vibrant, ripe with cherries, juicy cassis, rich dark fruit and texture. With undertones of spice, herbs and cocoa this food-friendly wine would pair well with grilled veal chops or braised short-ribs.
The 2010 growing season featured the coolest temperatures in Washington since 1999. Naturally low yields, plus consistently warm weather from September to late October, produced perfect phenolic ripeness and flavor development with extraordinary natural acidity.
Merlot: 30% Olsen Vineyard (Yakima Valley); 31% StoneTree Vineyard (Wahluke Slope); 30% Boushey Vineyard
Fruit from the warmer Wahluke Slope (StoneTree Vineyard) contributes impressive depth and power, while the cooler Yakima (Olsen and Boushey Vineyards) terroir conveys fresh, bright blueberry flavors. When making this Merlot, we focused on each vineyard's terroir to bring the fruit's classic characteristics into focus to create this delicious wine.
