2008 Merlot


Teasing with its floral, spicy cherry and currant aromas, our 2008 Merlot is full-bodied, firm and structured, tight and focused, offering glimpses of what lies ahead with its complex mix of flavors and tightly-wound tannins. Our 2008 Merlot is rich with abundant aromas of clove, boysenberry, lilac and brown sugar. It has an amazing mix of concentrated ripe fruit, spicy notes of mineral and earth combined with lively acids.

In the vineyard

The growing season in 2008 was one of cool Spring temperatures and rain with a late start for bud break, followed by a Summer of average to slightly below average temperatures. Harvest was 10-14 days later than normal, but Summer and early Fall were dry.

In the cellar

2008 was a very good vintage across the board producing wines with purity of fruit and balance and a fine potential to age based on good acid levels.

Mineral and earth notes combine with lively acids and tightly-wound tannins to show its finesse and refinement on the lengthy finish.
