2014 Malbec

Malbec is a great fit for Eastern Washington’s dry and hot climate, particularly in the hottest AVA - the Wahluke Slope where StoneTree Vineyard is located. Here it can fully express its potential with supple and ripe tannins combined with ample fruit aromas. We like to blend a bit of Minnick Hills Malbec from the Walla Walla Valley which ripens later and adds a great note of freshness to the wine.

In the vineyard

In 2014, dry conditions and warmer than average temperatures during the growing season resulted in a very early harvest at Forgeron Cellars. This harvest was quite compressed, and the red grapes were deeply colored and full flavored. We picked our fully ripe StoneTree Malbec mid-September and Minnick Hills Malbec mid-October.
