Façon (FAH-son), meaning "a unique style or fashion", represents a unique style of winemaking at Forgeron Cellars. Façon Rouge is inspired by Winemaker Marie-Eve Gilla's French training and heritage combined with decades of experience showcasing Washington terroir. For our Gigondas-inspired Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre (GSM) we co-fermented using whole custers of Grenache in the Syrah to intensify the spice notes and overall complexity.
2012 was a classic Eastern Washington growing season with a warm, steady Summer. Late Summer and early Fall brought on slightly cooler daytime highs and a significant diurnal shift, allowing late varietals to thoroughly complete ripening.
This is the first blend where Winemaker Marie-Eve Gilla has co-fermented using whole clusters of Grenache in the Syrah to intensify the spice notes and overall complexity in the wine. The combination of grapes produces ripe and full-bodied yet spicy, supple wine.
