Façon Blanc

2015 Façon Blanc

Façon means "the way or style of expression," in French, and represents the unique style of Forgeron Cellars, where we blend our French heritage with years of experience working with Washington terroir. 2015 Façon Blanc is inspired by long, relaxing afternoons on the patios and pétanque courts of Provence. This wine is medium bodied, viscous, clean and refreshing.

In the vineyard

We want our Façon Blanc to reflect the climate conditions of Eastern Washington: bright but also rich, bursting with flavors while keeping a very focused and refreshing frame.

Roussanne: Crawford and Lonesome Springs Vineyards (Yakima Valley)

Viognier: Francisca's Vineyard (Walla Walla Valley)

Grenache Blanc: Boushey Vineyards (Yakima Valley)

Appellation Columbia Valley
Vineyard Boushey Vineyard, Crawford Vineyard, Francisca's Vineyard

In the cellar

We typically harvest our white Rhone varietals in October as they are very well adapted to our arid Eastern Washington climate and ripen slowly. 2015 was an exception, due to being one of the warmest growing seasons on record. We brought in all of our Roussanne (Crawford, Lonesome Springs), Viognier (Francisca), and Grenache Blanc (Boushey) by the end of September.

In the glass

NOSE: Bosc pear, star fruit, honeysuckle

MOUTH: Granny Smith apple, lemon, kiwi, honey

FOOD & WINE PAIRING: halibut with fresh mango salsa or cioppino

Forgeron always makes a quality white and the 2015 Façon Blanc is no exception. Buttered citrus, white flowers, brioche, and spice notes all emerge from this rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, juicy white that has richness and freshness. This vintage is 39% Roussanne, 34% Viognier, and 27% Grenache Blanc. Aged 4 months in 100% neutral French oak.

April 2018
This blend of 39% Roussanne, 34% Viognier and 27% Grenache Blanc offers nuanced apricot, peach, flower and spice aromas. It's full bodied and juicy on the palate, with textured stone fruit-like flavors. Peach notes linger on the warm finish.
