We like to highlight the many faces of the vineyards we find in WA state. Klipsun is one of the oldest vineyards on Red Mountain and the arid conditions are perfectly suited to craft deep, powerful Cabernet Sauvignons. This blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon from Klipsun Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA, with a kick of 10% Petit Verdot from Dionysus Vineyard in the Columbia Valley.
2013 Was a very warm growing season in Washington. May and June saw large fluctuations from record high temps to downright cool, and there was three times the average rainfall in June. Summer was consistently hot, but things took a sudden turn in mid-September and we had a near-perfect finish to the growing season with a big increase in flavors and overall concentration as the nights started getting cool.
We kept the six barrels separate and aged the wine longer to soften tannins and bring more complexity, it is quite delightful to watch these big wines evolve and come into their own through the years.
