Our 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is brilliant purple to the rim, infused with plush aromas of red currant, lavender and blueberries. Silky in texture and packed with crushed plum and fig preserves. A long, lush finish with suave, dense tannins form the backbone of this vibrant Cabernet Sauvignon.
The cool Spring temperatures delayed bud break and bloom, resulting in harvest starting three weeks later than normal. Cabernet is a late-ripening varietal, so it was critical to source from warmer sites to mitigate potential difficulties associated with the late-ripening season.
Cabernet Sauvignon: 57% Dionysus Vineyard (Columbia Valley); 38% Hightower Vineyard (Red Mountain); 5% Candy Mountain Vineyard (Columbia Valley)
Cabernet Franc: 100% Boushey Vineyard (Yakima Valley)
Petit Verdot: 100% Dionysus Vineyard (Columbia Valley)
Our 22 year-old Dionysus Cabernet Sauvignon block is on a southwest-facing slope, above and east of the Columbia River. One of our warmest sites, Dionysus' Cabernet and Petit Verdot grapes provide lush, vibrant, fresh ripe fruit with dense tannins forming the backbone of our Cabernet Sauvignon.
Hightower's southwest-facing slopes benefit from warmer temperatures and more sunlight hours than any other part of the Columbia Valley AVA. This Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon shows exceptional color, strength and richness with ample structure. Candy Mountain is on a south-facing slope adjacent to Red Mountain, where high heat units produce wines rich in extraction and fruit flavors. Boushey Cabernet Franc provides additional spice and fresh fruit.
