2019 began with favorable, steady temperatures that suggested harvest would begin earlier than the prior year. However, as we were preparing to begin picking fruit in August temperatures around the state suddenly dropped, causing most of our fruit ripening to slow and bestowing advantageous added hangtime and acidity. We finished harvesting fruit just before an early freeze throughout Walla Walla Valley in October. Given our preference for fresh, vibrant winemaking, this vintage’s exceptional, gradual entrance allowed varietals across the state to truly blossom.
Our Estate Cabernet Franc vineyard, Equinox Ridge, grows in the foothills of the Blues in Walla Walla and we are lucky to be able to watch the growth and evolution of the wine from beginning to the finished wine in the bottle. This wine gives us the opportunity to control every part of the process and put our full might into the bottle. Labor of love is what got this wine to where it is today and it will be for years to come.
Our 2019 Equinox Ridge Cabernet Franc is the first of its kind, from our Estate Vineyard in Walla Walla Valley. A plethora of aromas frame the bouquet, featuring enticing notes of blackberry, currant, bootstrap and roses. Scintillating bright black and blue fruits, essence of lavender, and citrus notes abound with each sip. This wine explodes in the mid-palate with a long-lasting finish that leaves the palate craving more. Enjoy this wine now, but make sure to have a few extra to enjoy on special occasions.
