Our 2009 Sagemoor Vineyard Barbera is one of our favorite exotic varietals and each Spring we look forward to this refreshing Summer-friendly red wine. Always a limited production, this vibrant beauty is built for enjoying on the deck!
Sagemoor Vineyards has approximately 800 acres, which includes Sagemoor Farms, Bacchus Vineyards, Dionysus Vineyards and Weinbau Vineyards. It is located near Pasco on the Southwest hillside overlooking the Columbia River. The vineyard was first planted in 1972 and still includes some of the original vines.
This vintage was aged in 100% young French oak and this is reflected on the nose, with its warm, smoky aromas of white pepper and cinnamon supporting the intense blast of juicy berries that follow.
This medium-bodied but juicy wine is luxurious with flavors of marionberry, blueberry and subtle pie spice.
NOSE: white pepper, cinnamon, juicy berries
MOUTH: marionberry, blueberry, boysenberry cobbler, subtle hints of vanilla and cinnamon
FOOD & WINE PAIRING: pasta carbonara, coq au vin or cumin-roasted pork tenderloin with fruit chutney
