Notes of bing cherry, white pepper, and sage dominate the nose of this wine, leading to a burst of ripe red fruits, Christmas spice, and expansive and refreshing acidity. This wine finish with super fine but defined tannins and a long lasting, savory finish.
The 2017 vintage was a difficult one to start, coming off one the coldest winters in Eastern Washington’s history. Despite a late frost our fruit survived. As Spring turned into Summer, Mother Nature delivered an ideal growing season, long enough for our fruit to fully ripen and short enough to ensure we could pick it before poor weather arrived.
The Syrah arrived the first week of October, followed by the Grenache and by the last week of the month we had picked all the fruit for this blend. We were able harvest each lot at the ideal sugar and ph levels and had to do only a moderate amount of sorting before the grapes went to tank.
