Why we love it

Crawford is a small family-owned and run farm, well-diversified with apples, corn and blueberries in addition to grapes. These third generation farmers do not worry about trends and fads; they focus only on what is best for the plant and final product. For example, when everybody else is on double cordon, Crawford uses Geneva double curtain. Geneva double curtain trains the foliage up, creating good air movement and shade for the fruit, perfect for whites, it allows more time for ripening and not so much stress from the heat.

Grapes we source

Chardonnay, Roussanne

Notes on Terroir

Poor, very fine sandy soil provides excellent drainage. Crawford has warm, dry summers, but is cooler than other areas, producing grapes with great acids and flavors.

The attention to detail and Geneva Double Curtain trellis are conducive to producing high-quality white grapes, with enough shade and air movement to let the grapes breathe and slowly mature, even during the hottest days of summer.
