FRANCISCA'S VINEYARD
Walla Walla Valley
At the foot of the Blue Mountains, 950 feet in elevation, the vineyard consists of soft rolling landscape with good sun exposure, irrigation water, and soil made up of a combination of several feet loess over layers of glacial materials. When they were preparing the soil for the vineyard, they uncovered a big boulder of Montana granite that was transported in a large chunk of ice and deposited when the ice melted during the Montana Flood thousands of years ago.

Why We Love It
Francisca's Vineyard is a boutique vineyard and a labor of love which began in 2001, with the purpose of keeping the owners physically fit, working outdoors, and able to enjoy a rewarding lifestyle. The owners do the majority of work themselves and the vineyard is LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe Certified. To be sustainable, they focus on the health and structure of the soils, managing irrigation, and obtaining uniformity throughout the vineyard.
