The 2010 growing season featured the coolest temperatures Washington had seen since 1999. Naturally low yields, combined with a month of consistently warm weather from late September to late October, produced perfect phenolic ripeness and flavor development with extraordinary natural acidity.
Our 2010 Merlot is a blend of well-known vineyards from unique settings throughout Washington. Using diverse locations allows us to focus on each vineyard's terroir and bring the classic characteristics of its fruit into focus. Fruit from the warmer Walhuke Slope (Stonetree) has impressive depth and power, while the cooler Yakima (Olsen & Boushey) terroir conveys fresh, bright blueberry flavors.
Our 2010 Merlot has a spicy nose showing impressive pomegranate with hints of light caramel and raspberry-filled chocolate. The palate is vibrant, ripe with Acerola cherries, juicy cassis, impressive dark fruit and texture. With subtle undertones of spice, herbs, and cocoa this food-friendly wine is ready to enjoy now (decant for 2-4 hours). Add to your cellar and open periodically over the next 3-8 years to experience its ability to greatly improve.
Try our 2010 Merlot with grilled Veal chops or braised short ribs for the ultimate experience!
