2009 Stonetree Petite Sirah (Tasting Room Exclusive)
Known for a dark hue and firm tannins, Petite Sirah is often used as a blending wine to provide color, structure and acidity, particularly to Zinfandel. But on its own, Petite Sirah can also make intense, peppery, ageworthy wines. Marie-Eve has always loved Petite Sirah & searched a long time to find a Petite Sirah vineyard she really liked. This dark, inky beauty is velvet, pure velvet!
On the nose, heady aromas of ripe fruit and intense blackberry are followed by rich spices, white pepper and ripe dark cherry. Your first sip confirms this luscious wine's WOW factor with a rush of crushed dark fruit, dark chocolate, and black pepper. Rich flavors of ripe berries, plum build to the pomegranate-accented finish. Our Petite Sirah is juicy and intense on the palate with modest, balanced acidity and integrated tannins. The finish is long and full, ending on a sultry note!
This wine is big, but can dance lightly with both familiar and exotic menus. It is a natual pairing for spicy Steak au Poivre or Garlic & Spice-Rubbed Pork Tenderloin. Simply make sure the chef has a full glass of 2009 Petite Sirah at all times. It inspires culinary creativity!
Sante'!
