2010 Blacksmith Merlot, Columbia Valley ($18)
"BlackSmith is a "value" line from Forgeron Cellars. This Merlot shows a deep ruby color and an attractive nose of cherry, plum, rosebuds, mulberry and dried herbs. The medium bodied flavors are chock full of red and blue flavors, picking up notes of licorice, chocolate, coffee bean and earth. While not highly varietal in character (79%, blended with 16% Syrah and 5% Zinfandel) it delivers solid flavor and depth. 17.5+/20 points."
