2011 Forgeron Cellars “GSM” Red Wine, Columbia Valley ($30)
"This “Gigondas-inspired” blend is a first for Forgeron. Composed of 40% Grenache, 55% Syrah & 5% Mourvèdre, it displays a deep ruby color & an enticing nose of wild blackberries, blueberries & cherries, with scents of crushed roses, mulberries, lavender & spiced incense. The red & blue fruit flavors are well saturated, intermixed with licorice, cocoa powder, roasted coffee beans & alluvial minerals. On the back, the wine turns chewy textured, with notes of roasted berries & nuts, spiced cherries & blueberry preserves, followed by a savory (mixed spices & herbs) dryish South Rhone-like finish. 18.5+/20 points."
