2011 Forgeron Cellars Chardonnay, Columbia Valley ($27)

Here, Marie-Eve Gilla has turned out a beautiful Chardonnay from a cooler than normal vintage. Brilliant gold colored, it offers lovely aromas of apple, pear, peach, vanilla, apple blossoms, acacia flowers and light spices (from the addition of 6% Orange Muscat). The flavors show wonderful vibrancy, along with notes of peach stones, butternut and stony minerals. The back picks up tones of Mandarin orange peel, toasted hazelnuts and a moderate touch of vanilla oak along with light spices. A squeeze of bright citrus juice enlivens the finish. 18.5/20 points.
