2011 BlackSmith Red Blend, Columbia Valley ($18)
"BlackSmith is a “value” line from Forgeron Cellars. This is a catchall blend of 50% Merlot, 17% Petite Sirah, 13% Zinfandel, 8% each of Cab Sauv & Cab Franc, & 4% Lemberger, but it works well. Medium ruby-colored, it has an intriguing nose of raspberry, cherry, plum, crushed roses, bayberry & spiced incense, & ripe medium bodied flavors that are intermixed with licorice, cola, roasted nuts & earth minerals, followed by touches of dried cherries, orange peel & sweet-dry tannins on the finish. 18/29 points."
