Rand Sealey Reviews 2009 Merlot
"The true-to-variety flavors are generous and mouth filling, yet focused, underlain with notes of Swiss chocolate, licorice, French roast and variegated minerals."
Rand Sealey, Review of Washington Wines, September 2012
2009 Forgeron Cellars Merlot, Columbia Valley ($30)
"Here Marie-Eve Gilla has turned out a nicely balanced Merlot. Deep ruby colored, it offers an enticing nose of raspberry, cherry, plum, black rose, rosemary, sandalwood and a whiff of burnt brambles. The true to variety flavors are generous and mouth filling, yet focused, underlain with notes of Swiss chocolate, licorice, French roast and variegated minerals. The richness continues on the back with sensations of dried cherries, mocha, framboise liqueur and roasted nuts, all gliding effortlessly into a moderately oaked (35% new French) supple ripe tannin finish."
