2009 Forgeron Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley ($33)
This multi-vineyard Cabernet (89%, with 6% Cab Franc and 5% Malbec) is well put together. Purplish ruby colored, it offers an unmistakable Cabernet nose of blackberry, cherry, cassis, tobacco leaf, crushed roses, sandalwood and rubbed sage. The dark fruits are deep and penetrating, built around a deep core, intermixed with black licorice, dark chocolate, Sumatra roast and earthy minerals. The concentration continues on the back with sensations of roasted berries and nuts, crème de cassis, graphite, and a touch of crème brulée, followed by a lingering lightly oaked (30% new) grainy tannin finish. 18.5+/20 points.Tweet
