Rand Sealey Reviews 2008 Cabernet Franc

" ...a rich, sensuous Cab Franc. It displays a deep ruby-garnet color and rich aromas of blackberry, cherry, cassis, cigar box, rosebuds, eucalyptus and cracked peppercorn."

2008 Forgeron Cellars Cabernet Franc, Columbia Valley ($30)

"Composed of 60% Alder Ridge (Horse Heaven) and 40% Weinbau (Wahluke slope) vineyards, this is a rich, sensuous Cab Franc. It displays a deep ruby-garnet color and rich aromas of blackberry, cherry, cassis, cigar box, rosebuds, eucalyptus and cracked peppercorn. The palate is bathed in supple dark fruits that are pulled together into a focused core, accented by notes of chocolate, red licorice and mocha. The back reveals a grainy, earthy texture that recalls a Chinon from the Loire Valley. A squeezing of pomegranate juice and accents of spiced ginger on the chewy tannin finish complete the wine. 18.5/20 points."
