2007 Primitivo, Stonetree Vineyard, Wahluke Slope ($30)

"Clonally similar to Zinfandel, yet distinct, this wine, sourced from the Stone Tree Vineyard, offers a brilliant ruby color and rich, spicy aromas of raspberry, blackberry, fig and smoky earth. The flavors are medium-heavy weight, oozing with macerated semi-dried berries. The back shows notes of bittersweet chocolate, mocha, cinnamon bark and roast coffee. Ripe fruit acids lead into a warm (15.5% alcohol), but not hot, ripe tannin finish. 18.5/20 points."
