2010 Forgeron Cellars Syrah, Yakima Valley, Boushey Vineyard ($30)
"This is an admirably tasty, well-structured classic Syrah. Semi-opaque colored, it shows a typical nose of raspberry, blueberry & cassis, with scents of crushed roses, mulberry, cigar box, lavender, violets & spiced incense. The flavors are deep & well saturated, permeated with licorice, bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee beans & earthy minerals. The back reveals sensations of squeezed red & blue fruit juices, crème de cassis & blueberry preserves, & touches of dried orange peel & suede leather. The saturation persists right through the lingering dryish, yet ripe & sweet, savory (soy & spice) finish. 19/20 points."
