2013 Forgeron Cellars “Façon Blanc,” Columbia Valley ($25)
“This a new South Rhone-style white blend, composed of 33% Roussanne, 30% Grenache Blanc, 22% Viognier and 15% Marsanne, aged in neutral French oak. It possesses a brilliant gold color and attractive aromas of pear, peach, apricot, melon, orange blossoms, honeysuckle and jasmine. The fruit compote flavors are rich and weighty, yet fresh and lively, with notes of peach stones, melon rind and stony minerals. The back reveals sensations of poire William liqueur, crème fraiche and lemon zest (from the Grenache Blanc), along with a hint of tropicality (from the Viognier), followed by a lingering crisp finish. All this adds up to a white of considerable finesse as well as depth, giving it a plus +. Terrific value. 18.5+/20 Points."
