2012 Forgeron Cellars Primitivo, Wahluke Slope, StoneTree Vineyard
"This Zinfandel cousin offers a brilliant ruby color and an intriguing nose of boysenberry, blueberry, cherry, roasted spices, fennel, ground pepper, and a hint of tar. On the palate, the medium-bodied flavors are supple and mouth-filling, with the red and blue fruits accented by notes of licorice, cocoa, and Wahluke scorched earth. The back picks up roasted berries and nuts, spiced cherries and touches of burnt charcoal and orange peel. Bright fruit acids (.61 g/100 ml) enliven the lingering ripe tannin finish. 18.5+/20 points."
