2011 Forgeron Cellars Barbera, Columbia Valley, Sagemoor Vineyard ($30)
"This comes on like an Italian Piedmont red with a French flair. Deep ruby-garnet colored, it emits aromas of red cherries, boysenberries, blueberries, crushed roses, tobacco and incense. The flavors are deep and penetrating, intermixed with licorice, cocoa and dusty earth. The chewy-textured back picks up notes of roasted berries and nuts and dried cherries, followed by a lingering, nutneg and clove-dusted sweet-dry tannin finish. 18.5/20 points."
